About me....

My name is Alexis Mincey. I recently accepted a position as a school counselor, three years after working in higher education. I graduated in 2008 with a masters degree and I am pursuing my specialist degree as well. I took a special education class in my maters program and I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge in this area. I am married with a daughter that will be 2 in September. I am looking forward to purchasing my first home. The house should be complete in January 2012. I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Hello Alexis: It is nice to meet you---finally! I feel like we have already met since you and I have communicated a number of times. There are discussions that are currently ongoing with your colleagues, so jump right in.

Welcome SPE 593 Blog!

This blog is our virtual classroom. Comments that are posted here are professional and reflexive. I am looking forward to lively professional discussions in this space!

There are two ways of completing ANY of the blog assignments. You can simply click on Comments at the end of each prompt and add your response; OR, you can post your response by initiating a post. Instructions on how to initiate a post and how to post comments are provided below. if you are new to blogging, it may be much easier to use the Comments function to complete any of the assignments than to initiate a new post. Regardless of the approach you take, the only thing you will need to remember is that each blog prompt/question has two parts that you must address. First, you must post your response to the prompt (not less than 100 words) and second, you must comment on at least two of your colleagues' posts.

The Introductions assignment is in part intended to give you some practice posting and commenting.

Instructions on Posting Responses or Initiating a Post

While I have provided prompts to specific issues that require our discussion, collaboration and/or participation that relate to specified modules, I fully encourage all of you to initiate posts on issues of interest that you would like to share with your colleagues or that you want your colleageus to comment upon. For instance, if you run across an interesting reading or news article that you would like to share, please feel free to post it here as a way to share with your colleagues.

This is how to create a post:
At the top right corner of this Course Blog Homepage:
Click on New Post to open the posting dialog box
Under Title of Post: Enter the title of your post
Inside the Content area, type the content of your post
When finished, click Publish Post
If you would like to add an image, click on the Add Image icon located on the command line above the content box
You will then get a message that your blog post has been published successfully. If you wish to make any edits or changes, follow the prompts provided. Otherwise go to View Blog.

P/S: You might want to prepare the content of your post in a word document. It is easier to edit and clean it up in Word than in the blog. Then cut and paste it into the blog post Content submission box.
